Founded way back in 1829, Craig and Rose are the oldest independent paint manufacturers in the UK. Originally established by two young Scottish entrepreneurs – James Craig and Hugh Rose – Craig and Rose has been a leading light in traditional paint manufacturing ever since. Opening a large paint mill in Leith in 1874, the company has grown and grown over the years, even winning the contract to paint the famous Forth Bridge with their 'Red Oxide' paint in 1883 – a paint that was used on the bridge for the next hundred years. Over time, the company's dedication to producing a quality product found painters and decorators all over the country using Craig and Rose paint on everything from Longleat House to the Brighton Pavilion. Today, the company remains the country's favourite traditional paint supplier, with hundreds of colours to choose from and a dedicated customer base many of whom have been painting with Craig and Rose for generations.
